Istos Renewables is a dynamically evolving, independent company active in the field of Renewable Energy Sources (RES).

The primary focus of the company is to perform certified wind potential measurements as well as measurements of other renewable energy sources, such as stream water flow for Small Hydro Projects (SHP).

Accredited laboratory:

The laboratory of Istos Renewables follows and applies a Quality Management System. It is accredited by ESYD according to ISO-17025/2005 and ensures the modern requirements for measurements of high fidelity and reliability.

LIDAR Technology:

As a 'Trusted Service Provider' of ZephIR Lidar, we provide reliable wind data up to 200m a.g.l., thanks to the special design of a constant beam laser Lidar and the capability of variable focal length.

Wind Farm Energy Studies with WindSim

Istos Renewables has already been using WindSim since February 2008. WindSim is the leading wind farm simulation software that is based on Computational Fluid Dynamics code, which combines advanced numerical processing with exciting 3D imaging.

PV & hybrid systems:

We design & construct photovoltaic plants autonomous or grid-connected. We design and do the optimum sizing of hybrid systems combining small wind turbines, PV panels and varius electricity storage methods.

Design, study and developement of floating mast for offshore wind measurements

What we offer

To accurately determine the wind potential in the site of an offshore wind farm only direct measurements on the sea and at a suitable height (which is not affected by the wave) using a specially designed floating mast is the most appropriate method.

Unlike measurements on nearby rocky islands or nearby coast hide significant errors due to topographic effects (speed up effects), thermal effects and transition phenomena from low roughness region to high roughness region.

CURRENT STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT:

Preliminary design study in order to determine (A) the basic characteristics of the floating mast and (B) the specifications & standarts to be met.

Developement of software in order to track & eliminate the oscilation of mast from the measurements of wind.

WIND MEASUREMENT MASTS

What we offer

Our company can supply you with the full equipment for wind potential measurements as well as for other environmental measurements.

All Istos Renewables Masts ( including components) are designed and constructed to meet ISO/IEC 61400-12-1 Standard, and are suitable for wind potential measurements.
We offer:
- Tubular masts (up to 60m)
- Lattice masts

The lattice masts installed/produced by ISTOS RENEWABLES have been developed by experienced engineers. The static/dynamic strength has been studied in accordance with:
• Eurocode 3: Design of steel structure (ΕΝ 1993)
• Eurocode 1: Actions on structures (ΕΝ 1991)
• EIA/TIA-222-G

All lattice masts are hot-dip galvanized iaw EN 1461 and come with welding certification and materials certification.

TECHNICAL DUE DILIGENCE & CFD STUDIES OF WIND-FARMS

What we offer

Istos Renewables can undertake extensive technical investigation (Due Diligence) of RES projects.

The evaluation may be assigned by the investor or financial institutions in any stage of maturity of the project.

When it comes to projects that are already operational, data of energy (and economic) performance are collected, analyzed and compared with the results of feasibility studies before the operation; in order to identify any discrepancies and in order to assess the causes of variation and to investigate whether there are additional risk factors.

Finally, mention is made of the functional status of the equipment of the project.

Additional for wind farms the investigation may include the following:

- Evaluation of siting (examination of wind turbine positioning in accordance with IEC-61400-1 standard, the specific land use framework and other environmental factors)
- Wind energy potential assessment (investigation and verification of wind potential by installing high masts or by using LIDAR, always following the rules of MEASNET)
- Evaluation of financial details and project’s budget
- Sensitivity study of uncertainty factors.
