On April 9, 2013, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley signed into law the Maryland Offshore Wind Energy Act (MOWEA) of 2013. MOWEA is a critical first step to establishing an OSW industry in Maryland. It secures public sector financing -- $190M in Offshore Renewable Energy Credits (ORECs) -- for an offshore wind project off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland. This $1.2B OSW project will lead to the development of a Maryland OSW supply chain. The Business Network For Maryland Offshore Wind (BizMDOSW) helps develop the supply chain by through educational events, networking and outreach to offshore wind companies.
